How to continually grow your affiliate commissions

One of the myths about, affiliate marketing is that it’s an easy way, to earn money. This myth alone has enticed a lot of people, towards taking the plunge into affiliate marketing. But the question is, does affiliate marketing really work this way?

Affiliate Marketing is another form of marketing products, from your merchant. Just placing a link or an ad of the product, on your website and doing nothing, will not get you any revenues. This is precisely the reason that many affiliates, earn next to nothing, because they do nothing, beyond placing the ads and links on their website. Unless and until you market the product, be rest assured, that you will definitely earn nothing, out of this affiliate business. There no such concept, as a free lunch here too. No pains and no gains.

So, how exactly would you start generating profits for yourself? Simply sitting there and waiting for some one, to come over to your site and click the link, is a sure fire way of earning nothing. Think of ways to promote the Merchants products, think of ways to drive, targeted traffic into your website, think of ways to induce people to buy your products. The only way, to get more pay checks is by getting in more people, to visit your site and clicking on your links. You simply can’t generate profits, for yourself by doing nothing.

If you want to take the easy way out, by doing nothing, you are definitely on the wrong track. But we aren’t saying, that, you should stop being in the affiliate business. But we would advise you, on a few concrete steps, to make your program work better and that would mean more commission checks, for you. So here we go, a few tips that can show consistent results, in getting your affiliate checks.

Become an expert on your affiliate product.
The best way to sell a product is to know your product inside out. The best way to do that is to buy the product for self and use it on regular basis. That way, you know the strengths and weaknesses of the product. A first hand experience, is a sure fire way of convincing people, about the product. If you are for some reason not allowed buying, the product, do some research about the product. Try writing an impartial review, about the product. That would not only, enhance your credibility, but would keep visitors, wanting to read more of what you write.

Host your own website.
Get yourself a domain name, which has an easy recall. Never have incomprehensible domain names and URLs. The name of the game should be “Keep it Simple”. Anything complex would mean, less traffic and as a result lesser profits or probably no profits. Offer access to private sites to anybody, who clicks on your affiliate ads. These private sites are a great way to promote, your backend affiliate products and Visitors usually get interested with this exclusive access, to private sites. So, it is always a good idea to create private websites.

Write your own affiliate ads.
One way to gain advantage is to design and write your own ads, for the Merchant’s products. The Merchants would be more than happy, to let you do so, as long as you have the required permissions from them!!! When you write your own ads, they tend to communicate clearly, with none of the jargons, being part of the ads. This is a great way to differentiate yourself, from the rest of the crowd, who will in all probability, will be using the same ads supplied by the Merchant.

Participate in chat rooms, discussion boards, and forums related to your product.
Join the various forums, discussion boards and chat rooms, which are related to your product line. Participate regularly in the discussions, which happen there. You don’t have to start promoting, your product right away. Take time to establish yourself, on these boards, rooms and forums. Once you get people listening to you, it is very easy to promote your products.

Create a free ezine or newsletter.
Is there a better way to communicate, with your target audience than through newsletters and ezines?? I would say no. Newsletters and Ezines, are a great way to inform people about the updates, on your sites. However the cardinal rule, is not to promote products in the face in the newsletter. A subtle approach like inserting the ad, as part of the newsletter content itself is the right way. And yeah, promote your newsletter on your website, or else how will people know, there is one?

As emphasized earlier, if you can get visitors, to click on your affiliate ads and purchase products, there is simply no reason for you not to get profits. What we have suggested here, are at the best guidelines. There are numerous other tips, which are available on the Internet. We encourage you, to try them out too. Let the world know about your site, promote your site, at every possible instance. Remember, driving traffic, is the best way to succeed in affiliate marketing.
