Affiliate Marketing is attracting people in hordes, as it is thought to be one of the easiest businesses, to be in and an easy way to earn some extra money. But more the number of people entering the business, more is the competition. Some times the competition, is so intense that you will find numerous affiliates, competing on the same site, for the same program and in the same geographical location. The only way you can remain on top in this melee, is by differentiating yourself, from the rest by a mile. However help is around the corner and here are a few tips, guidelines to stand apart, from the rest of the affiliates.
The first point to remember is that, potential customers go to websites to search and look for products, which they need. It is much easier for them, to remember a URL or a domain name, than remembering a particular page on another website. So, get your own domain name or URL. Host your site. Incase someone enquires about your products, all you have to do is direct them, to your website. If you don’t have a website, then go get one soon.
The second step is to remember that people become immune, on seeing the same ads again and again. So request your Merchant, to allow you to create your own ads. That way you will stand out, from the rest of the affiliate crowd, by not displaying the same ad, which the rest do. Remember the primary purpose of an ad, is to attract people and make them curious, about your product. So start writing or designing your own ads, for the products and services you sell.
The third step is to have something on your site, that the others wont have. All you need to do is to have your own product, that only your website sells and cannot be found on other affiliate’ sites. To have your own product, choose a segment of the market, where you can attain potential leadership or at least a strong challenger position. You need to make your customers come back, to your site and one way to do that is to offer a product, that others cannot offer...
The fourth step is to establish a loyal customer base, who you can tap for repeat business. To explain to this base, about a new product, you need to thoroughly understand the features and benefits, of the new product. You must buy the product for your use and then share your experiences, with your potential customers. It’s a first hand experience that your prospects will take into consideration, while making a decision, on purchasing the product. If you are confident enough, you can even write a tutorial, about the product itself and it will be of great benefit, to your prospects. That way your credibility increases, to a great extent and sooner or later you will be considered as an expert.
As said earlier focus on one market, do not simply promote everything, you can lay your hands on. Making a mistake is fine, but acknowledging the mistake and correcting it, is something that will gain you credibility, with your customer.
